Sex-toy shop saga: Police commences investigation into alleged assault by Sen Abbo

According to The Sun, the development follows the order given by IGP Mohammed Adamu for the arrest of the lawmaker.
Legit.ng gathers that the police is working hard to restore its dignity following the release of a now-viral video on social media which embarrassed the force.
The video showed how the angry senator beat up the girl in a sex toy shop, and ordered his police orderly to take her away. According to police sources, the shop has been traced in a bid to ascertain what really happened from the owners.
The particulars of the police orderly attached to senator is said to have also been gotten, in a view to effect his arrest and commit him to a trial so as to dissuade others from such acts. The FCT police command has also reportedly established contact with the victim who only reported the incident to command on Tuesday, July 2 after the incident had happened some days back. She was, however, asked to return on Wednesday, July 3 to be interviewed.
Anjugurl Manzah, the public relations officer of the FCT police command, said: “We are monitoring the situation and we have commenced the process of investigation. “What the commissioner of police has actual done is that the complainant has been asked to do a formal complain to the command for discreet investigation.
The command has urged the complainant to come forward, but I can assure you that the incident did not happen on Tuesday. “I cannot establish the date when it happened but the command has made it clear that we want a formal complaint on the matter so that we can commence action. “We cannot just commence work based on what we see on the social media; you need something, you need a document to work with. For now, we have not received a formal complaint from the complainant.”
Meanwhile, Senator Elisha Abbo reacted to the viral video showing where he assaulted a woman in an adult shop in Abuja. Abbo said the owner of the shop only released a part of the video, taking away the part showing where his younger sister was assaulted in the said shop. The senator also said that his team will release a 'robust' statement on all that transpired in the viral video to the public.
