Oby Ezekwesili has reacted to news of the arrest of Deji Adeyanju who led a protest in Abuja yesterday. According to Oby, 'with this story of arrest of Deji Adeyanju&others who protested in Abuja today, let me advise the government of Buhari, just tune down the intolerant acts now. Police, stop repressing Citizens’ right to dissent. #FreeDejiNow! Do this NOW or earliest tomorrow'. She added that, 'let Citizens like Adeyanju Deji exercise their rights and should they violate the law, Make it explicit what and how they broke any law. Police, stop using the law as your cover to trample on Citizens right. #CitizensFirst has the right to protest against anything'.

Ezekwesili Reacts As Buhari, Atiku Are Absent In First Presidential Debate

Oby Ezekwesili has expressed displeasure at the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari, and former vice-president Atiku Abubakar, and some other leading candidates for the 2019 presidential elections at the first 2019 presidential debate. Atiku, who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, sent in Segun Sowunmi to represent him at the event, while President Buhari of the All progressive Congress,APC sent in no representative for the debate. Speaking at the debate, Ezekwesili, presidential candidate of the ACPN, said she could have gotten angry and left, following the absence of Buhari and Atiku, but said she stayed for the debate out of respect for Nigerians present. The debate is currently holding in Abuja, and hosted by The Osasu Show, and supported by ONE campaign, Connected Development (CODE), and YALI Abuja. The Nigerian Election Debate Group has fixed January 19, 2019 for a debate for presidential candidates of different political parties taking part in the 2019 elections.

Chairman of the debate group and owner of Channels TV, John Momoh, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja today November 22nd. He added that the debates will hold at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and will be broadcast live by all BON members. According to the timetable released by the group, the vice presidential candidates are billed to have their debate on December 14th 2018. President Buhari will be debating alongside the likes of Oby Ezekwesili, Atiku Abubakar, Donald Duke and others.
