The statement reads in part: “The Boss can exclusively reveal that Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has joined the 2019 Presidential race. “There is no doubt that he would be a formidable force that should not be ignored because only few politicians in Nigeria today have the pedigree, the experience, the clout and the connection of Senator Saraki. “Impeccable sources reveal that as he plots his move for the Presidency, he is said to be considering building alliances with all Nigerians of like minds. “He is also considering using the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu as his running mate. Today, the Senate will deliberate on the statement made by the former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd) on the insecurity in the country. Danjuma, at the convocation of Taraba State University on Saturday, urged Nigerians to resort to self-defence in the face of unending killings across the country. He also accused the military of complicity in the killings, especially in Taraba, where he said that the herdsmen were being aided in killing innocent citizens. The Senate’s decision followed a Point-of-Order raised by Sen. Yusuf Yusuf (APC-Taraba) at plenary on Tuesday. Yusuf pointed out that Danjuma raised fundamental issues that should be debated and investigated by the Senate. But while considering Yusuf’s submission, the matter turned controversial when it was put to voice vote by the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki. There was initial confusion as to where the voting favoured, but Saraki ruled in favour of the “ayes”. He sa...

I told him (Buhari) right to his face [to] outrightly reject that extension because the members of the party, we are outrightly opposed to it. - Sen. Shehu Sani

ESenator Shehu Sani (APC-Kaduna Central) has thrown his support behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s stand against the tenure extension granted the party’s elected officials. Speaking on an interview on Channels TV, Sani said the president’s intervention has saved the party. He said: “The intervention of the President, if it was not done, it would have been disastrous for the party. I feel highly relieved. “So, in every sense of the word, it has saved the party from what would have consumed it at the end of the day. “If we went ahead with that tenure elongation, and someone from the opposition party goes to court after all the processes of congresses and primaries has been done, the point is that we may end up without a governorship or presidential candidate and without a candidate at all the legislative arm of government. “On my part, I told him (Buhari) right to his face that as a man who has seen it all, who has achieved so much as a...

Atiku declared his intentions when he paid a visit to the PDP in Rivers state today March 27th. During the visit, Atiku said his decision to make the announcement in Rivers State is because he believes Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike represents what he represented in 1998/99 as the live wire of the PDP. The former Vice President said that he is offering himself to set the country on the path of growth after the serial failure of the APC. According to Atiku, since assuming office in 2015, the APC Federal Government has destroyed the education, health and infrastructural sectors through poor budgetary allocations and releases. He added that he has never witnessed a more divided country like what it is right now under the APC government. Since 2015, we have not seen a 100kilometres constructed by the APC Federal Government anywhere in the country. I have never seen Nigeria so divided along religious, ethnic and regional lines. This division is as a result of the mismanagement ...
