Allocation for the programme amounts to 60 million Czech Koruna (€2.3m), 75 per cent of which is to be covered from the European Asylum, migration and integration fund. Daniel said that the number of tourists that visited the 172-year-old structure was higher than the 9,009 recorded in 2017. NAN  reports that the foundation of the building was laid in 1842 and was completed in 1845. “We recorded more tourists toward the end of the year when there were different festivals organised by peopleand the Local Government Authority attracted tourists to the site. “Around August, we celebrated Coconut festival and many tourists that came for the event visited the site. Also during Diaspora festival, many foreigners came to the site. “These were just the reasons why the site recorded a high number of tourists in 2018. “I’m sure that the patronage would be higher this year if the Federal Government will complete the reconstruction of the Lagos- Badagry Expressway which is discouraging tourists from visiting the site. “The major challenge that we face i

French Montana Clarifies Himself Over Comments He Made Regarding R. Kelly

Image
French Montana clears up his sentiments. Most recently, almost anybody who has decided to speak out about anything related to  R. Kelly  has had to watch their tongue, and with good reason. Among those celebrities who have offered up their opinions on the allegations brought up against the disgraced singer in light of the  Surviving R. Kelly  series was  French Montana . The New York rapper found himself in hot water after offering a pretty nonchalant viewpoint on the subject, telling  TMZ , "Whatever happened, happened," and stating that Kelly should be allowed to "enjoy" his legacy. "[People] don't let nobody have their legendary moments," French told the outlet when prompted. “Let [R. Kelly] have his legacy. Let somebody enjoy their legacy, Naturally, the remark was not taken well as it was perceived to be giving a pass to R. Kelly. Frenchy soon took to Twitter to clear the air and attempted to expound on what exactly he meant, even though his n

HUSH PUPPI: "pls pick ATIKU, don’t say he chop our money before at least... we didn’t have to steal pants"

Image
Hush Puppi, who is most known for his flamboyant lifestyle on Instagram, took to the platform to inspire and motivate Nigerians to vote wisely this time around. Read his post below: I am writing this from the point of view of a kid that was raised with little or no resources from Nigeria but has “desire” for greatness. For me I believe the starting point of all achievement is desire which except you are blind and dumb then you won’t be able to tell how weak the desire of our present rulers are when it comes to our lives, our safety, our wellness, our struggles as a hardworking people who have been categorized as lazy Nigerians. I have learnt through the years that weak desires only bring weak result just as small amount of fire makes small amount of heat. We all have one way or the other experienced the amount of heat, suffering this government has brought upon the nation. As someone in his 30s, who was told as a child is the “leader of tomorrow” now i am experiencing today not as a l

ASUU says strike continues, rejects government's offers

Image
The hope of many university students across the country to resume academic activities soon may have been dashed. The striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has rejected the offers made to it early this week by the Nigerian government. At the seventh meeting with the leadership of ASUU on Tuesday, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the labour dispute with the university teachers was on the verge of being resolved. He listed the fresh concessions made by the administration to ASUU. According to Mr Ngige, the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Ministry of Finance presented evidence that N15.4 billion had been released to public universities. On earned academic allowances, he said President Muhammadu Buhari approved N20 billion to offset arrears of the 2009 to 2012 verified earnings by university teachers. But in an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES early Saturday morning, the President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, said upo

2019 "very fearful" - Prophet TB Joshua

Image
Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of Nations, SCOAN, has labelled 2019 as “very fearful.” He also said there may be interruption of democracy in the year 2019. In a Youtube video, Joshua said he saw this while praying at an undisclosed ‘prayer mountain.’ He started by saying, “I am here because I know where I need to grow. When we know where we need to grow, it is victory itself.” The prophet said he was there “to know the mind of God concerning this fearful year 2019 and also to pray for you and the world at large.” He called on Nigerians to pray against “a stopover” and “the interruption of the democratic practice” as Nigeria prepares for the elections next month, February 2019. “I like being one with nature – where there are no disturbances, where we don’t need to close our eyes to pray,” he explained, indicating he had been in prayer and fasting for several days to begin the New Year. “I developed this habit right from the beginning of my ministry… When I need a qu

“She just wasn’t that pretty” -Racist on the winner of Miss Algeria 2019

Image
She beat 16 other women to be crowned Miss Algeria, but Khadija Ben Hamou’s win has been subjected to a torrent of racist abuse. When other social media users began to call out those spouting racist abuse, some Twitter users maintained it had nothing to do with race. “She just wasn’t that pretty,” one person wrote. Plenty of other users were quick to praise the diversity of this year’s competition and jump to Khadija's defence. One Facebook user wrote: “If I understand correctly, you want a Miss Algeria that looks like a Swedish!? It's one of the charms of our diversity, a Saharan charm, I'm glad to finally see a miss who comes from the south Algerian [sic].” Another wrote: “Y’all can’t be making fun of her nose, hair and skin complexion and say it’s not racist.” Khadija, who comes from Adrar in the south of the country, took part in 20 rounds of the competition before being crowned Miss Algeria 2019. She will go on to represent the country at Miss World, and will tak

Mohamed Salah is named CAF African Player of the Year for the second successive year.

Image
The Liverpool forward held off competition from teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to land the award. A poll of CAF’s national teams’ head coaches and technical directors, members of the governing body’s technical and development committee and a panel of media experts selected Salah as the continent’s outstanding footballer in 2018. The Egyptian received the accolade at a ceremony in Dakar, Senegal, on Tuesday evening, where he was also included in the Africa Best XI for 2018 alongside Mane and Naby Keita. He scored 44 times during a 2017-18 campaign in which he helped his club reach the Champions League final, before then netting twice at last summer’s World Cup. A further 16 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool have followed so far this season, while Salah also contributed four goals in three Africa Cup of Nations qualification outings for his country in 2018. The 26-year-old’s performances throughout the year also saw him retain th
